For schools
Programs that fit the school day, not fight it.
Curriculum-aligned incursions, enrichment programs, creative STEAM, robotics, literacy support and implementation models built around school operations.
What we deliver for schools.
Incursions
Single-session and multi-session incursions run on site, mapped to year levels.
Enrichment programs
Extension programs for students who need more than the standard sequence.
Creative STEAM and robotics
Design, making and robotics sessions with equipment supplied.
Literacy and learning support
Targeted small-group support alongside your existing teaching plan.
Teacher professional development
Practical PD sessions your staff can use the following week.
Implementation support
Scheduling, staffing and reporting that fits how the school already runs.
Why schools work with GLS.
Curriculum aware
Sessions are mapped to the Australian Curriculum and to your year-level focus.
Cleared staff
Facilitators hold current working with children clearances and are supervised.
Low admin load
GLS handles scheduling, materials and reporting so staff time stays in class.
Reporting
Attendance and outcome summaries suitable for leadership and parent communication.
How a school incursion runs.
For principals and curriculum leaders who need a hands-on program that fits an existing timetable without collapsing the rest of the day.

In the room
What participants do
Students work a single design brief across the block, chosen with the school against the year level and learning area you nominate.
- Unpack the brief and the constraint that makes it hard
- Sketch two competing options before choosing one
- Build a physical model to a stated scale
- Test the model against the constraint and record what happened
- Present the reasoning to the class in 60 seconds
What they practise
- Design thinking
- Collaboration
- Spatial reasoning
- Testing and iteration
- Presentation
- Project planning
What they leave with: A finished physical model per student or pair, plus a one-page design sheet showing the sketch, the change made after testing and the reason for it.
Session shape
What a session looks like
Each 60-minute period follows the four-step Arkki flow so a class that misses a week can rejoin without falling behind.
- 1
Discover
10 to 15 min
Explore a creative challenge through stories, images and discussion.
- 2
Sketch and dream
10 to 15 min
Brainstorm, draw concepts and plan solutions before touching materials.
- 3
Build and create
25 to 30 min
Construct models and prototypes with real materials, testing as you go.
- 4
Present and reflect
5 to 10 min
Share the work and explain the thinking behind each decision.
A worked example: three classes in one day
| Time | Activity | Who |
|---|---|---|
| 8:15 | Bump-in, room set up, materials laid out | GLS facilitator |
| 9:00 | Session 1 | Class A, teacher co-supervising |
| 10:00 | Reset, 15 minutes | GLS facilitator |
| 10:15 | Session 2 | Class B, teacher co-supervising |
| 11:15 | Recess | - |
| 11:45 | Session 3 | Class C, teacher co-supervising |
| 12:45 | Pack down and materials removed | GLS facilitator |
| 1:15 | Handover notes to the curriculum lead | GLS facilitator |
Alignment
Curriculum alignment
Mapping is supplied per booking against the year level and learning area the school nominates, and covers both the national curriculum and the NSW syllabuses where relevant.
- Design and Technologies: processes and production skills
- Science: forces, materials and fair testing
- Mathematics: measurement, scale and geometric reasoning
- Critical and Creative Thinking general capability
Reporting
What you receive afterwards
Within five working days of the last session the school receives:
- Attendance by class and session
- The curriculum mapping document for the delivered brief
- Facilitator notes on cohort engagement and any access adjustments made
- A one-page summary suitable for the school newsletter or executive report
Suitability
Is this the right program for you?
Best for
- Whole year levels run in rotation across one or more days
- Schools with a nominated curriculum focus or project week
- Sites that need the program to fit standard 60-minute periods
Not the right fit if
- Groups under 12 students, where per-participant cost becomes inefficient
- Assembly-style presentations to a whole school at once
- Schools wanting an ongoing weekly technology block. Arkkibotics suits that better
FAQ
Questions we are asked about this program
- How many classes can you run in one day?
- Four class groups per facilitator across a standard school day, or eight with two facilitators. Rotations are set at scoping so specialist timetables are not disturbed.
- Does the classroom teacher have to stay?
- Yes. The GLS educator leads and the classroom teacher co-supervises in the room for the whole session. This is a child safety requirement, not a preference.
- What space do you need?
- Tables, water access and power. A hall or library works for rotations. We confirm the room at scoping and need a trolley route from the car park.
- Can you cover multiple year levels in a day?
- Yes. The same brief is pitched differently per stage, so a Year 2 and a Year 6 group build the same object to different levels of complexity.
